Dwarf Mine is a game about drawing and designing a mine, uncovering treasure, and surviving the dangers of the mountain.

In Dwarf Mine, you will draw your mine on graph paper, roll dice to determine what gold, gems, or other treasure you’ve discovered, and (hopefully) defeat monsters in combat, keeping your mine alive and thriving!

By the end of your game, you’ll have created a rich and unique history for your mine – no two games are the same!

Played this game this afternoon and had a blast. Used Inkarnate to draw the map (after detailing it to the specifications of the original map), used a dice rolling app and kept the history as a journal entry in One Note. Was fun and planning for the next turn(s) and how to develop your Mine and what rooms to build was a nice thought exercise. Strongly recommend and will be getting the expansions.

I'm glad you had a blast! Great idea playing digitally. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, thanks for the kind words, and good luck in your future games!

I’ve had a lot of fun playing this. The rules are easy to learn and the mini expansions add some cool things to the game. If you’d like you can check out my review for more about the game in the link below. You can also see one of my maps and a brief history of that mine.

Thanks so much for the review and the comment!!! Great site Mel!

This game has a great, old school dungeon crawl feel to it. Make sure you don't mess up like I do and use all the gold you can when you can.

A new Dwarf Mine expansion is available!

Dwarf Mine has been updated! 2 new expansions have been added to the game, and 3 appendices! Check out the details here!

I have a podcast coming out next week, with an opportunity to get Dwarf Mine at 50% off! Check it out here:

"Hovel - Gain 1 population on each of your turns."

Does this mean a Hovel gains you 1 Dwarf on the same turn it is built? For my first game I went with the house rule that it only takes effect on the turn after. I am not sure which way to go on that one.

Hi Cjleeh, great question!

You can gain 1 dwarf on the same turn a hovel is built.

In general, all room benefits can be used the same turn the room is built.

I hope this helps! May glory and gold fill your mine!

My son and I love Dwarf Mine! I have a question about the Root guys though.

Is it if the Root guys roll a 6 on their attack that they take no damage, or if I roll a 6 on my attack they take no damage?

Thematically, it made more sense to me that if the Root guys roll a six, they did the absolute best they can and trounced my dwarves. Plus, it makes them a little more dangerous even if I have a d20 attack die.

Thanks for the great game!

Hi Ryan, I am glad to hear you and your son love the game! Thank you for playing!!!

Your thematic description is the correct one - if the enemy rolls the 6, damage cannot be dealt to them this turn. But I believe its the stone folk who don’t take damage on a 6, and the root walkers gain health on a 6.

Thanks again for playing! Enjoy!

You're right! Thanks for the quick reply, and thanks for the great game.

Just finished my first run through! Made it to age 17 before the dragon killed me. I was so close, too! Got it down to 7 health and it did JUST barely enough damage to kill my last dwarf. Had 36 prestige by the end, along with about 23 coins, a gemstone, and a mithril that I couldn't use because the dragon snuck up my mine and blocked off my mithril forge. All in all, I had a great time, and this was well worth the $5!

That sounds like an epic finish!

I'm glad you had fun, thank you for the comment, purchase, and checking out the game!
